his teams never played as hard as Meyer's teams do now. I don't know how Coach Meyer's longevity will hold up, but no one works harder than he does at all of the issues that face a team, and the results speak for themselves.

overlooked is convincing the boy's parents/guardians etc that he will looked after the recruit as well as they have----that in 4/5 years he will make a good man out of this young boy no matter if the kid plays a down

Great article! I think too many times we can overlook the psychological issues when talking about coaching 18 - 22 yr olds. This can really be applied to any age group, just with different issues facing a coach. For instance, one could argue that there are better tacticians in the basketball world than Phil Jackson. But who has ever been better at handling a team of highly compensated, largely egotistical athletes? He somehow motivates them night in and night out to be the best they can be. Urban seems to be a master at motivation. I am so grateful to Coach Spurrier for what he did at the U of F, but his teams never played as hard as Meyer's teams do now. I don't know how Coach Meyer's longevity will hold up, but no one works harder than he does at all of the issues that face a team, and the results speak for themselves.

I have always enjoyed the combination of writing skill with insight. Naptha, this article is an excellent example of both.

Your term "organization development", isn't that what we college football fans have historically and euphamistically referred to as "the program"? What Meyer has done is take it to the corporate level with a tremendous eye for detail and execution that permeates every aspect of Florida Football. A level to which we are all grateful! Can I get an amen?

My interest and concern is maintaining this level of excellence over time. The energy, focus and motivation to maintain this is going to be a real challenge. Maybe that is why some have stated this is a 12 year job because I just can't see Coach Meyer becoming a Bobby Bowden figurehead type, can you?

it is called discipline and fla wins because they disciplined players and coaches. it hasnt always ben this way. thanks coach meyer

meyer can be most trusted one to raise their boy into the man they want to get back
